The Pearl/Of mice and men?

Hello. I need to do a comparable essay between ';the pearl'; and ';of mice and men';. Can someone gives me some advice on how to do it?The Pearl/Of mice and men?
write about how Steinbeck uses his tyle to portray two different styles of writing. What kind of moods can you feel in each of the books. then, you can compare and contrast his style of literature. The Pearl/Of mice and men?
The two books are fairly different, but there are two very good areas you may wish to compare:

1) Steinbeck's descriptive style, how he describes people and places, are very similar in both books

2) theme (the dream and hope and promise of a better life is just barely out of reach, and could have been possibly obtained...but), conflict (damn it all to hell! Something that included violence by a main character screws everything up, threatens the plans for a better life), and resolution ( the dream dies along with a character, and the prospects of a better life are gone, gone, gone!).

I would choose the second one, refer to it as Steinbeck's stopry structure...pretty good ideas, yep.
Read the books if you have time. If not, then scan both, scan part of the first chapter, then a scene in the middle, and the last chapter of each.

Use Cliff Notes. Use Wikipedia. But pledge to yourself and affirm your intention to read them as soon as you have the time.

Then follow also the advice of the others here, and think for your own self. What do you think of each work? How do you think Steinbeck changed in his writing style from the time he wrote one to the time he wrote the other? How do the plots differ? How are they similar? How do the characters, the hero, the protagonist, the antagonist, differ or seem similar?
