Well, George was acting humanist, helping another human being simply because they are human, throughout the entire book. He always helped Lennie. Lennie was George's best friend and so when George shot Lennie at the end of the novel it was to help Lennie, for many reasons. So George gave up his only friend in thw orld, remember he's a traveling migrant worker, to help his friend. That was a pretty great sacrifice. You could easily have points to support friendship and loyalty, because George and lennie were friends, ';we're not like other guys'; and because George was always there for Lennie.
